I wrote this bucket list a few years ago before my little boy was here with us and we were still a family of four. So much has changed! There are so many fun things to do in Autumn. We love to wrap up warm and get outdoors and completely embrace the season. September is always such a busy month with back to school routines and Meme’s birthday so I am looking forward to a calmer October where we can make the most of our weekends together. So I sat down with my three kids and we chatted about what we would like to do during this beautiful season.
Here is what we came up with:
- Conker search – we love finding conkers, and once we do Harri tends to carry them around with her!
- Have a leaf fight! Yes we love this and we tend to gang up on Daddy!!
- Go to a bonfire display – this is an annual tradition but we are going to fully embrace it this year with the BBQ and funfair they have
- Go pumpkin picking – We have done this the last few years at Hawarden Farm Shop and we have lots of fun. There are also so many delicious recipes that you can make with pumpkins including mini pumpkin spice eclairs or pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies
- Carve a pumpkin – naturally!
- Make some Halloween cupcakes or treats
- Do some Halloween activities. We are actually away for Halloween this year but we plan to do some activities on the run up Halloween. Last year we visited Carden Park and attended their Jeepers Creepers event. We had such a fun experience. So we plan to see what else is going on locally.
- Collect some fir combs – we do this every year then paint them ready for the festive season.
- Wrap up warm and go play on the beach until it gets dark.
- Make hot chocolate after a cold afternoon outdoors (this was Meme’s suggestion even though she doesn’t like hot chocolate!)
- Collect some leaves and make some leaf pictures, such a an easy craft which all three of my children love doing.
Oh some lovely ideas! I need to make some hot chocolate 🙂 #FamilyFun
This is a great list. We love cooking bacon sandwiches out in the woods. Carefully of course. Nothing better on a cool day than sitting with a hot drink and a bacon sandwich in the countryside. #sharewithme
Ooh I didn’t even know pumpkin picking was a thing! Thanks for the idea, we’ll be looking out for somewhere to do that too!

Ah I do love a good bucket list, and I adore autumn! Our two definitely love it when hot chocolate season begins, and I can’t wait to get the first pumpkin to carve! x
Ha my boys are more into the idea of hot chocolate rather than actually drinking it, it baffles me that they don’t like it!! They’ll just ask for marshmallow instead. Lovely ideas, pumpkin picking is our favourite think to do at this time of year! So much fun xx
We don’t have a bucket list but I am definitely going to go to a pumpkin picking farm this year!! We’ve just been getting out as much as possible and enjoying this sunshine, I’d forgotten how much I love Autumn actually! #sharewithme
Great list. We’ve already collected conkers and done leaf printing. Not sure we’ll make it to a bonfire display – we have a dog and he gets petrified. #familyfun
I love autumn crafts, we have been doing leaf painting and acorn crafts today. I look forward to seeing the results from your list here. #BestWorst
Aw sorry just changed linkies I was stopping by from #SharewithMe!
This is a fab list. Conker collecting is a must!! #sharingthebloglove
I love this! I love Autumn so much! We went apple picking and it was a definite hit, and I really want to make a pumpkin pie again as they are amazing (very American I know)! #SharingtheBlogLove
These are great ideas I love the leaf fight idea! I’d love to take my two to a firework display but I think they’re a little young still and would be scared. Good luck I hope you get to tick them all off your list. Thanks for sharing at #familyfun xx
Autumn is my favourite season. I don’t think we have a pumpkin patch near us but you are right that’d be an awesome picture moment! Toffee apples and skimming stones on iced up canals! I hope you manage to find an answer! I don’t think its easy though. I’m trying to work out how to get my 15 month old to sleep without boob at the moment. Cue crying lots of it! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun.
I love this list! We are going pumpkin picking at the weekend I think, I’ve just been told about somewhere near us that has a pumpkin patch! We are all about a nice hot chocolate too, after a cold walk out it’s perfect to come home to! Thanks so much for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
Lovely bucket list! I have some of these things to do on my list too, conker picking being next on our list… If the rain stops 🙂 #TheList
Some great ideas! October is my favourite month, we tour all the local pumpkin patches! #thelist
Fabulous! We have done an autumn list and have very similar things to you. I love the idea of playing on the beach until it gets dark, unfortunately our nearest beach is a two hour drive away, so not so practical! Maybe next Autumn, when my girls are a bit bigger.

Oh I love this! I didn’t know you could go pumpkin picking, I’m off to take a look. My favourite is going on the beach until it’s dark, I wish we were a bit closer to the beach to do this. Hot chocolate and marshmallows are a must in our house. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove X
It is the only season I ever want to write a bucket list, I really love Autumn but this Autumn I am struggling to motivate. Maybe because before now the weather meant it felt too nice.
I think I shall have to write a mini list after seeing this xx
