Restaurants in Edinburgh – Planning a trip to Scotland.

Now the world is starting to open again we are starting to think about some travel plans for 2022. After being house bound for pretty much 2 year we are excited about travelling and experiencing new places. We are ready for some adventures!

Together as a family we have made a list of places we want to visit this year and top of the list for us is Edinburgh. We love Scotland, especially Edinburgh. It is such a vibrant exciting city, perfect for a families to shop and explore. There are multiple National Trust venues, parks and of course Edinburgh Castle.

Usually when we visit new places we are never sure where to eat and then end up eating in the same chain restaurants that we have at home. We want to find some delicious and quirky restaurants in Edinburgh to try.  Thankfully, this time we have discovered Squaremeal. If you are not familiar with Squaremeal it is a huge database of restaurants all over the country. All you need to do it select the location you are in (or visiting in our case) and a list of restaurants will come up enabling you to book on your chosen date and time. It gives you some information about the restaurant and reviews to help make the decision. You can even use Squaremeal to search for venue hire if you are planning a party or a wedding.

So after some very hard family debates (there is so much choice!) we have made a list, and then narrowed it down to 5 restaurants that we hope to visit on our next trip to Edinburgh.

The Refinery St Andrews Square

Wow – The Refinery looks stunning. The contemporary decor look beautiful, as does the food. However what really caught our eye was the dessert menu at this restaurant. It sounds a little different to all the other restaurants that we have looked at and we can’t wait to try it out.

Brewhemia

Brewhemia sounds amazing. Facing Waverley train station Brewhemia boasts of a spacious dining area. Child friendly and dog friendly it sound perfect. What also caught my eye is that it has outside dining as well as inside and also has live music playing. I know my children will absolutely love this.

Divino Enoteca

Another way you can choose a restaurant on Squaremeal is by filtering the type of food you want. We all love Italian food in our family and there is no way my children go for a whole week without their favourite meal of pasta and pizza.

Divino Enoteca look cosy, calm and quaint. It maybe looks a little romantic that our usual restaurants we visit, the menu looks amazing and the huge Italian wine list has definitely got us excited for our visit.

Foundry 39.

Foundry 39 is known as the happiest place in town. Who can resist that? This place looks like so much fun. It is lively, cool and hip. The food consists of burgers, pizzas and more all served on canteen-style trays or slate tiles. I definitely need to remember to take my camera to this funky place.

Greenwoods

Greenwoods got al of our vote for a restaurant in Edinburgh to visit for breakfast. It all looks so good. Classic fry ups, pancakes and healthier breakfast options. There really is something for everyone here. Situated on Frederick Street, Greenwoods looks like the perfect place to start our days adventure.

So thanks to SquareMeal we have got our food options for our trip to Edinburgh all sorted nice and easy without any fuss.

Do you have any restaurants in Edinburgh that you would recommend?
