Growing up I never took much interest in looking after my skin. I suppose you don’t need to as much when you are younger. I know lots of people have a skincare routine, my sister always uses the Clinque range but I was always too lazy to bother with it all. In fact, many a night I used to go to bed with my make up still on.
I am now in my mid thirties and I can definitely see the differences in my skin. I have a lot more breakouts and have really dry patchy areas. Although I probably eat much better and drink less than I did ten years ago, I know I have less sleep and more stress. I also wear more make up and my routine tends to be running a baby wipe over my face before bed, all these factors are starting to take their toll on my skin.
I knew I needed to start spending a bit of time caring for my for skin, upon recommendation from my younger sister I have started using:
I really liked this range, they feel nice and light on my skin making it feel smoother. In fact, when I had ran out I used a different cheaper moisturiser and I immediately noticed the difference.
Last month, as a treat, I had a Elemis facial at Doubletree Hilton Chester and it was amazing, if I could afford it I would have one every few weeks, my skin felt and looked amazing after it. The beautician asked me about what type of skin I had and I answered, normal with a few dry patches. However, once she had done the facial she told me that my skin was really dry and recommended I exfoliate and use a night cream. Now as a busy Mummy of two young children I don’t feel I have a lot of money to be making expensive purchases for skincare, or even time to be spending hours cleaning my face plus, by the time it’s time for bed, I’m exhausted. However, I know it is important and I also know how lovely and glowing my face felt after it had some tlc.
Luckily my friend bought me some Nip and Fab skincare for a Christmas gift, which I had never got around to using. It was a brand that I had never heard of before but they are amazing! In the two weeks I have been using them I have really noticed the difference to my skin.
So now my routine consists of:
- Nip and Fab Cleanser
- Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads (which exfoliates my skin)
- No7 Protect & Perfect Intense ADVANCED Day Cream / No7 Protect &Perfect Advanced Night Cream
- No7 Protect and Perfect Intense ADVANCED Serum
All the years I couldn’t be bothered and it really only takes me five minutes. My skin feels so much better and those dry patches around my nose and on my forehead feel so much more nourished, softer and fresher. Friends have actually started complementing me on my glowing skin (seriously!)
Do you have a skincare routine? What products would you recommend?
I love Nip and Fab their products are amazing!Perfect and Protect is good too but if you’re spending that much I’d go for Nip and Fab everytime xx #BloggerClubUK
Thanks lovely I am obsessed with them x
I’ve not heard of Nip and Fab before, but I’ll be keeping an eye out! I’ve been loving Glycolic acid products too – so good for giving that fresh skinned ‘glowy’ look! I’ve not got on with No.7 in the past as it triggers my eczema – I’m a Liz Earle girl all the way (probably bore everyone to tears with my Liz Earle blogs!) It’s amazing how a really quick skincare routine can make the world of difference. #bloggerclubuk
I have never tried Liz Earle – but will keep them in mind. I think you are meant to try and change your skincare products every so often so will maybe try Liz Earle next. Thanks for your comment Katy x
I have never heard of Nip and Fab before but they sound fav. I love Liz Earle and I am also using a cleanser like the Nip and Fab one at the moment. I will keep an eye out for these when I am next in the shop 🙂
Yes they are great – I love them. Thanks for your comment lovely x
I am exactly like you, I never really thought about a skin care routine until I hit my thirties and now, at thirty six, I feel like I look at least double that some days!! I’ve tried a few of the nip and fab products but not the cleanser. I have combination skin, break outs at certain points in my cycle and then dry skin the rest of the time. I’m going to follow your lead and try some of these products, hopefully I too shall be glowing!! Oh and by the way, you look absolutely gorgeous! #sharewithme
Ah thank you lovely, I have really noticed the difference since using them – I often find myself touching my face just to feel how soft it is ha! x
I love the nip and fab products I currently use Avons Cleansing Professional range but maybe need to try something different xx #BloggerClubUk
They are really good and not too expensive compared to some other brands! Thanks for your comment x
I have never heard of these but they sound fab! I am terrible for wiping my makeup off with baby wipes! I need to get a better routine xx
I know – baby wipes are then answer to everything at times! Thanks for your comment x
Lovely simple routine – the best kind! 🙂 I’d add a separate SPF for day time as the sun does a lot of the damage that all the products we use are trying to undo!
Good point I never even thought about adding a SPF – thanks for the tip and the comment!x
I have exactly the same problem, dry patches but anything too heavy to moisturise causes breakouts ? The facial sounds like a lovely treat! Will check out the Nip/Fab exfoliating pads as I do like my face to feel really clean. Thanks for the recommendations x #MarvMondays
The pads are amazing – if I could only use one thing on my skin I would choose them. Thanks for your comment x
I used to have a routine and then it stopped during my last pregnancy as pregnancy happens to do wonders for my skin (I’m quite lucky, I can do nothing and it can be completely clear) but when I’m not pregnant, I have huge breakouts, so I’m glad to see this. Will have to prepare for after baby #2 arrives. Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays! Kaye xo
I am the opposite – my skin is terrible when I’m pregnant! Thanks for your comment xx
I have never heard about this before. Sounds like something that would work for me though. I am constantly trying to find something easy to use but good for my skin. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me #sharewithme
I too haven’t been great about skin care. I haven’t heard of this brand before but it sounds really fab! My skin has gotten so sensitive since I’ve become a mum, so I use brands for sensitive skin now – fragrance free & all that stuff lol Thanks so much for linking up with us at #bloggerclubuk
Oh I might totally steal this routine. I need to do something with my skin, as I do literally nothing nice to it! I am going to look up those Nip Tuck things now. Thanks for linking up to #TheList x
I am in my early thirties and this is something I find myself thinking about too often. I’ll look up these suggestions. Thanks!
I gently wash my skin and after that I rinse it with plenty of warm water. Remember the water should be warm and not hot. This strategy helps in removing natural oil from the face faster. This is the approach I am using since the age of 20 to make my skin perfect.
Nothing is better that natural products. Milk, Apple Cider Vinegar are the natural cleansers that unclog the pores and make the skin look radiant. I usually use these two to cleanse my face and I feel so fresh after that.
I use Aloe Vera gel for taking care of skin. This component is easy to access. It helps to fight with many skin problems like acne, wrinkle and dark circles etc. It keeps skin looking healthy and shiny.
These all product sounds absolutely amazing. My skin looks dry and rough so these products can be helpful to take best care of it. I will definitely use them in my skin care routine. Thanks a lot for sharing.
