There is one thing we have yet to experience as a family and that is going to a festival, what an adventure that would be! There are so many festivals all around the world that sound amazing. Dubai, for instance, have a shopping festival where all the shops offer amazing discounts throughout it, now I would absolutely love to visit that (the kids not so much).
My husband would really enjoy The Istanbul Music Festival, which is a selection of classical, european and traditional music. He loves all kind of music so this would be an amazing experience for him.
However, the festival that sounds simply amazing and would be perfect for all of the family is the Venice Carnival. Venice is a place I would love to visit, so many people have told me how beautiful it is and attending the carnival would make it even more special.
The carnival takes place every year in the weeks leading up to Shrove Tuesday. Everyone dresses in costumes and masks and you can be as extravagant as you like, anything goes.
You can attend the big glamorous events alongside some of the 3 million people who visit Venice during this period or you can potter around with the locals singing and dancing along to the live music, playing on the fun fair and watching the children eat cotton candy.
I would love to see the glitz and glamour of people dressed in the costumes and wearing those amazing masks but, truthfully, this is where you would actually find me, dancing along taking in the electric atmosphere and eating the carnival speciality, doughnuts! I know my children would love it all and Venice with all its culture and beauty would be such an amazing learning experience for them.
Whatever the weather, rain or shine, the Venice Carnival is meant to be one the best festivals to visit. There is entertainment in the streets from morning until night. Each time I read reviews it makes me feel even more excited and I simply cannot wait for one day to go and visit and be a part of this magical place.
