The big day

The big day

I love Christmas and this one was even more magical as Harri is a bit older with a better understanding and well Meme was besides herself with excitement. The school holidays also fell quite nicely with Meme finishing on the 18th December giving her and us a full week to prepare for the big day!

I love hearing about people’s Christmas plans as all families do it different. Our Christmas day started at around 8.30am with the girls running into our bedroom, which is a little later than usual, wanting to know if he had been. So we went downstairs to check and of course he had. It was lovely seeing their excitement – definitely worth the chaos of the last few weeks. After breakfast we get dressed and go to my hubbies parents who live quite close, we spend a couple of hours and then come home for a light lunch. We then pack up the car with presents and overnight stuff and drive the 40 minutes to my family… and then breathe.

I wont lie it is hectic and a little stressful, I feel a bit guilty and worry that I am rushing the girls too much, they barely get to play with any presents. However, both me and my hubbie agree that for us, Christmas is all about family and I want to spend Christmas with my parents and sisters, it would not be the same without them. I also know from the happy smiles on my girls faces that they are happy to see everyone and play with their cousins. It is noisy chaos but that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Once we are at my parents house we are there for the night. The day is filled with fun, laughter, eating, drinking, dancing (mainly Meme) and, I wont lie, the occasional overtired cry.

I wouldn’t, I couldn’t have it any other way.
