My passion has always been shoes. Some people love clothes, some people love handbags, but for me it was always about the shoes. I would spend hours looking for the perfect shoes and then plan my whole outfit around them. The higher the heel the better.
When I was younger I didn’t wear trainers at all! I was very much a heels girl. Even when I was pregnant with my eldest child I wore shoes with massive heels (I remember getting told off by my midwife!). Everyone said once you have kids you wont be wearing shoes any more, but I did. Even when I did the school run I would be wearing my favourite heels. I never thought I would change. I just didn’t think trainers would suit me and I wasn’t sporty at all so I felt I would look silly in them.
However 2 more kids later and with my youngest being a wild boy I admit defeat. The trainers are on! Much to the surprise of my friends.
Although I do think it is not because they are more comfortable (which the definitely are!) but it is mainly because I love the way they look. There is also such a huge amount of different trainers that you can choose from. There are so many wonderful brands, Nike, New Balance, Adidas the list goes on. Trainers are not just for wearing with loungewear or gym wear, you can wear fashion trainers with absolutely anything. Not only that, you can get some real good deals on trainers these days. Being a Mum of 3 I have to keep to stick to a budget when buying anything new. But I have discovered there are lots of bargains to be had. You just need to know where to look.
20 years ago my favourite outfit to wear would have been a dress and the highest heels you could find. These days you will find me in a pretty Spring dress with some trainers on my feet. Looking not only stylish but also comfortable and ready to chase my kids around the park. No more heels for me, well maybe sometimes!
