Three

So today is a special day, we celebrate Harri’s birthday. My baby is three and I can’t quite believe it. Where has the time gone…at what point did she change from a baby to a toddler to now a little girl? I feel like I blinked and missed it.

Harri is so special, as I write this I have a strong image of her in my head…that cheeky face, that gorgeous smile, those mischievous eyes. She is a whirlwind, she wakes up every morning and runs into our bedroom full of gusto ready for the day ahead followed usually by a sleepy Meme rubbing her eyes. Harri pretty much spends the rest of the day running around full of life, full of giggles. I wont lie, that girl knows how to press my buttons, she is strong willed and stubborn and at times drives me crazy but secretly I love that she has such character, I love that she has spirit.

We shouldn’t really be surprised as Harri’s arrival to the world was somewhat of a whirlwind. I remember her birth like it was yesterday…it was the day before her due date and it was a hot sunny day. Me and Meme had spent the day with my sister and my niece when early evening I started feeling strange. I honestly didn’t feel like I was in labour and I went to bed for a little nap. I woke at 7 ish and started feeling a little bit of pain but nothing too bad – as time passed I thought I best get myself to the hospital. I arrived at 9.30pm and she was born around 9.50pm – fast and furious. I always remember my husband saying ‘we have another girl..’ and I was so happy and excited – our little Harri. People worry that they could never love another child like they do their first but I fell truly madly and deeply in love with Harri as soon as I met her. As we lay in the hospital together I could’t keep my eyes off her, it was such a different feeling to what I felt with Meme -I didn’t feel as frantic or scared due to being a first time Mum, I was calm and more than ready for this next chapter in our life.

And now here we are three years later…my baby…no longer a baby…. such an bright light in our life adding so much fun and sparkle. Now we enter her 3rd year, such an important year, the year she starts pre school with bunches in her hair and carrying a packed lunch. It is also the year before she starts school and I’m already starting to feel that our time together is limited, it’s all going so fast she seems still so young. I realise experiencing all the milestones that Meme has reached is going to be just as hard but exciting second time around with Harri.

So Happy Birthday my beautiful girl, I hope you never lose your sparkle xxx

  1. Happy birthday sweet Harri, I love the way you describe meeting her, what a darling girl she is. #Kcacols

  2. What a lovely post and happy birthday to your gorgeous girl. Her birth does sound quick and a bit of a whirlwind. I know exactly what you mean about how with the first you feel a bit nervous and scared but with the second you just feel utterly consumed by love. I hope that she and you are all having a lovely day together. x

  3. Aw gorgeous. My second daught sounds much like Harri – a force to be reckoned with! I loved it too (when she’s not infuriating me!). Happy birthday Harri. X X

  4. Lovely post and brilliant pic haha Happy Birthday Harri! She sounds mint, and very much like Megs is (the whirlwind part). It does fly by so fast and its such a bitter sweet feeling each birthday. We have a 4th birthday this week and I already feel a little emotional!
Hope Harri had an amazing day x

  5. Aww this is so lovely Natalie. Happy Birthday to the gorgeous Harri! I don’t know why but when I was reading this post I was nodding all the way because even though my youngest daughter will be soon 2 and not 3, she seems like a very similar character than to Harri. I also felt the same way when I met her at the hospital. I was so worry that I will not be able to love her as much as my eldest daughter, but God how wrong I was. I love her with all my heart. It is crazy, right? Life really passes too quick that we don’t even realise. Thank you so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday, 🙂 x
