Summer Beach Reads for 2022.

I have been lucky enough to have gone on a couple of child free holidays this Spring giving me the opportunity to read a lot! I have read some fabulous books in the last couple of months. Some great easy reads perfect if you are planning a beach holiday this year.

Here are my favourite books that would be perfect for Summer beach reads.

Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

This book has been doing the rounds for a while this year. The book everyone has been talking about. Me, however had read the book blurb and did not fancy reading it. I had ready a book from Taylor Jenkins Reid previously (Daisy and the Six) and quite enjoyed her style of writing. So when I was going on a childfree trip to Venice with my husband and didn’t have anything to read, I decided to give it a go.

Wow! There are times when books are completely hyped up. This isn’t one of them. I devoured this, pretty much on the flight.

It follows the story of Monique who is an unknown magazine reporter struggling with some personal issues. When she summoned by ageing Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo to write about her glamorous life. The question is though why is Evelyn ready to tell her story and why has she chosen Monique?

Such a great book. Easy to read and completely lose yourself in the glamour and scandal. A great book for the beach this Summer.

Olive

A fab debut novel for Emma Gannon and a book that a lot woman in their 30’s and 40’s can relate to. It follows Olive and her friends, the book flashes back to the past and present time and tells the story of the friendships and how relationships can change over time.

I love reading books about friendships, especially as I get older and see my own friendships change and develop. This is a lovely easy read. One for the reading pile without a doubt.

Maybe in Another Life

Another Taylor Jenkins Reid book to make the list, her books are just so easy to read which is what you need on a beach holiday.

This books follows Hannah who is a little lost in life. She has lived in many different countries and made plenty of mistakes. She moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and moves in with her her best friend Gabby. Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. This is when the book gets interesting. It details her life if she decides to stay and if she decides to go. 2 different decisions with 2 very different outcomes.

A sliding doors kind of book but with an ending I really wasn’t expecting. Good characters, easy to follow plot and good but surprising ending.

All My Mothers

A book you will not be able to stop thinking about once you have finished reading and my first from author Joanna Glen.

Eva has never been close to her Mother, her Father leaves when she is young and she doesn’t know where she belongs or who she even is. The book follows her journey through life as she tries to find out who she is. Looking for answers to questions about her early life.

This book isn’t as light as some of the other books I have recommended but it is a wonderful story and one that will stay with you for a long time.

So if you have a holiday planned and looking for a great beach read try these suggestions out.
