Searching for conkers

Searching for conkers

The weather is so strange at the minute one minute it is really warm and the next much cooler. It was stressful week and I am really struggling with pregnancy tiredness so whilst we wanted to get outdoors and play on Saturday we also wanted to keep it as relaxed as possible.

We decided to go to one of our favourite places Bodwyllan Castle which is is about 40 minutes drive. We have been there lots of times before and my girls love it. It was surprisingly empty and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We of course played on the park for a while, played some croquet on one of the lawns and then went on a conker hunt through the forest. We managed to find a few and the girls were delighted! Seriously!

It was a lovely chilled out afternoon.

How was your weekend?

  1. Ah that’s a great idea such a simple activity but a loved one. I have such find memories of conker hunting when I was kid. It sounds like you made it a great day out for your little one, and for you too. Hope the tiredness eases up for you. Thanks for linking again with us at #familyfun. Hope to see you again next week xx

  2. Looks like a really chilled out day! We’d love to visit Bodelwyddan Castle but it’s a good 3 hours from us. We were also delighted at finding early conkers too! #PointShoot #whatevertheweather xx

  3. The weather is definitely hard to get your head around at the moment, the last couple of days have felt anything but autumnal! Hooray to the conkers, we found a few the other day too and Monkey was so so pleased! They are now dotted around the house as they apparently ward off spiders haha

  4. I love that last photo of your daughter holding the conkers. I still get excited when it’s conker season and we can go conker hunting. You’ve inspired me – I’ll have to check the calendar and see when we can go hunting! #whatevertheweather

  5. It has been so hot here in the Netherlands! We’ve been outside though trying to enjoy it before the cold fall blows in. It looks like you’ve had a lovely time. I haven’t seen the chesnuts falling yet, but I know it will be any day now! #WhateverTheWeather

  6. We are enjoying th ed cooler weather too, though the tree near us hasn’t started dropping conkers yet. When it does, we will be collecting th hem by the buckartful! #whatevertheweather

  7. You really know that autumn is on the way when the conkers are out and falling from the trees. Looks like a beautiful place for a day out and very relaxing with a game of croquet. A real bonus to find the conkers too, now to tread some string through them and start a conker challenge.

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

  8. Conkers!! We haven’t found any yet, boo, but have lots of green acorns! Will go out for a conker hunt tomorrow I think. Gorgeous photos of your girls as always! Thanks for lining up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

Yes, the weather is strange and one minute its hot and the next day it’s cold and we all need our coats!
Our conkers haven’t really fallen yet, so my Little Shires are still waiting to gather their haul!
