We all love the school holidays in our house, some parents think I am crazy, school holidays to them means childcare issues or trying to entertain their Children but to me it means lazy mornings, lots of fun and having my Meme back.
Each time the school holidays arrive they are much needed, October half term was the first one after her starting school and how we needed that one, 6 weeks of full time education certainly took its toll. Christmas holidays were welcome as we were all so excited for the big day. This leads us to the February half term, boy did we need this one, physically and mentally we were all exhausted, the holidays could not have come at a better time – it was just the tonic we needed.
After taking the weekend to relax and recuperate, we woke at our leisure on Monday morning to the sun shining and the birds singing and I felt, for the first time this month, happy. We had quite a few plans for the week, I always think there is a fine line between doing too much and not doing enough, and it can be quite tricky getting the right balance. My girls get quite bored staying in but I obviously was aware that I didn’t want to tire us out too much as rest was needed.
We spent the majority of the week outdoors, we caught up with old friends playing in parks, going the beach and generally getting lots of fresh air and running around free. We visited cafes and ate far too much cake. We also met up with some new school friends, which was lovely and really nice for Meme. I also got to spend some one on one time with Meme, which is pretty much unheard of at the moment, I wrote about our day here. It was so nice just the two of us, I really miss that girl when she is in school – she just seems so grown up now.
So these were our ordinary moments of the week, I make it sound so sweet and easy, it was a lovely week but as you can imagine there were of course some tantrums and tears and arguments, but of course that is life. Is it too early to start the countdown to the Easter holidays?

I am also already counting down to easter, I cannot wait. Because Christmas is so crazy it didn’t really feel like we had a proper break so easter can’t come soon enough- half term isn’t long enough at all! I love having Mads with us too- I just much prefer being lazy and having her with me. Although I am not sure I will be saying that in the summer. ;0) x
I know Christmas is crazy so the two weeks at Easter will be bliss. Haha yes lets see if I am writing a blog post like this come August!! xxx
My eldest starts school in September and I’m really dreading it, I just don’t want her to be away from me all week. I know I will feel the same about the school holidays as you. It sounds like you had a lovely week

I totally agree with you on this one. I love school holidays too and the amazing adventures we can get up to, I love that I am not bound by school runs, but can be out and about or in for as long as we feel.
I also relate on feeling happy too, this week I consciously thought to myself “wow I am feeling so good right now and loving motherhood again”, I realised it was because we were all together again and time was our own. I certainly miss my little E when he’s not around!

Oh we were definitely more than ready for half term around here – and a week doesn’t seem long enough for little ones to rest and rebuild themselves for the second half of term, but it’s only 5 weeks or something because Easter is quite early this year so yay for the next holidays!
