Why you need to visit Bodnant Gardens National Trust

Bodnant Gardens

I am putting it out there – out of all the National Trust Parks that we have visited, I think Bodnant Gardens might just be one of my favourites. Quite a bold statement but it is simply stunning. It’s also a statement that I think my girls will agree with. Most National Trust parks have big exciting parks for little ones to waste hours in. Bodnant Gardens hasn’t and yet my girls still adore it.

I have been wanting to do a blog post about Bodnant Gardens for a while. However, I really struggle to put down in words why we love it so much.

What makes Bodnant Gardens so special?

Maybe it is because it is slightly different to all the other National Trust venues that we have been to before.  It’s on all different levels with winding stone paths and little steps (which admittedly makes pushing a pram a little hard work) to all different parts of the gardens. There is a stream running through the centre with little stepping stones dotted around allowing the girls to jump to the other side of the river. In between all the plants and greenery there is a little village area which has an outdoor cafe and little huts where story time sometimes takes place.  The trees are so tall, the plants exotic and there is just so much to explore.

On our recent visit we even noticed teddy bears attached to benches and trees for us to spot as we walked along. This was lots of fun. However, I don’t feel these are all the reasons that we love it so much. I guess there is just something about Bodnant Gardens that makes it just feel so enchanted. Even though it is huge with lots of people around it. I always feel like I am in some sort of magical secret garden.

Are you local to Bodnant Gardens?

If you are local, definitely go visit this extraordinary place. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Oh and we did find a park in the end, it is situated outside in the car park which was the cherry on the cake for my little ladies.

  1. So now I know where those lovely bubble photos on Instagram are from! It sounds like a very special place for you and the girls and I must say rather idyllic on a lovely day. The photos of the stepping stones over the river are gorgeous and the summer pinks and purples are really bursting forth along the paths. What a lovely idea to have a little village with huts and I bet story telling there is magical. I’d like to create a special story telling place here, I have my eye on somewhere that might just work!

Thank you for sharing your favourite National Trust place at #CountryKids
