We had my lovely niece come to stay this weekend and my lovely nephew came to visit so it was a real family one. We started the weekend with my Husband taking the girls for a bike ride whilst I had a minute – I definitely struggle with taking some time for myself as I want to be apart of trips to the park and family bike rides. This Saturday, after waking up tired and emotional, I knew I needed an hour just to have a cuppa, read a magazine and simply not have to entertain, look after or even think about anyone else.
The afternoon the kids spent in the garden playing in the paddling pool, jumping on the bouncy castle and having lots of fun with their cousins – the next generation. I have written a post about this before but I love that my girls are so close in age to their cousins and that they all love spending time together. We finished the day off with a chippy tea in the garden, which was perfect. I could continue to write about the naughty bedtime antics or lack of sleep that we all had but let’s just leave it there….
Here are some of our pictures:
These are fab photos, I love the one landing in the paddling pool fab action shot. #PointShoot x
Aww bless, how lovely that they had their cousins come to stay. Love the photo of them on their bikes. #PointShoot
I love the paddling pool picture too, I bet she loved it. It sounds like a great weekend, without the bed time stuff of course ha! Lovely pictures xx #pointshoot
Looks like great fun, love the splash in the water! It’s hard not to feel guilty about not going along for bike rides etc but it’s important to recognise when you’re not up to it. I’m a bit like that too, always feel I should go, regardless of how I’m feeling. Looks likie they had a great time. #pointshoot
Great photos. My children love spending time with their cousins too. I love the paddling pool photo. Great timing #pointshoot
It looks like the perfect British summer weekend! I love it when the sun shines here. We haven’t got the paddling pool out yet this summer, we really need to! xx
It is a bit overwhelming sometimes & yes some me time is imperative! I do this in the bath.
I wish that my son has cousins. My relatives are all in the Philippines and we are so alone here. I am so jealous of you being close to your family. And you have the loveliest photos. Bright and clear and the moments captured are the sweetest!

That sounds like a lovely weekend! I struggle with time to myself for that reason too – I always feel left out if my husband takes Max off to do something fun!
Cousins are the best, aren’t they? I grew up really close to mine and my nephew is just 3 weeks younger than Max, so I’m hoping that they’ll be just as close. Gorgeous photos too – I love the paddling pool one! #WhatevertheWeather
It’s lovely that they have each other. My relations are so spread out. #pointshoot
We could do with a nice chilled out family weekend xx hopefully over the bank holiday! Lovely photos #Whatevertheweather
ooh where is the flat bicycle path as I know you aren;t too far from me
These are the best kind of weekends aren’t they? 🙂 I absolutely love spending time with family — and it’s so sweet when the cousins get together.
There is 20+ years between my littles and their BIG cousins but my sister’s daughter is just 6 months older than the twins — and they have another baby coming in December too, so there’s lots of young blood in the family which is gorgeous!! 🙂
Oops — forgot to say — coming over from #MyCapturedMoment 🙂
Well done to your husband for coming to the rescue and taking the girls for a bike ride, sometimes a little peace and quiet and time to yourself is just what is needed. Sounds like the cousins all had a wonderful time together, a little water fun in the garden and chiipy supper sounds pretty perfect to me.
Thank you for linking up and sharingwith me at #CountryKids
Lovely that your girls have cousins of a similar age and can grow up as such good friends. It looks like they’ve had such an amazing time together. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather x
Great pics, looks like a lovely weekend. We’re lucky to have lots of little ones in the family, it’s so fab that they can grow up together. Lots of friends for future adventures! #whatevertheweather
What a lovely cycle path you have! Definitely something we lack. Wonderful that cousins can spend time together. Good point about putting time aside for you. I have a week of hosting cousins coming up, so I really should do the same. Somehow. #CountryKids
Sounds like a lovely weekend huni. Love the water splash picture. Thanks for linking up to #PointShoot x
Lovely photos and sounds like a lovely family weekend! Always good to have a bit of time to yourself too, not easy entertaining small people all of the time, especially when you are pregnant. Put your feet up and enjoy a brew when you can 🙂 #countrykids
Aw I’m so with you, some mornings you just need that ‘me time’ don’t you?! This sounds and looks like the perfect British summer weekend. I love shots like this, they make me very happy. Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment xxx
