A Special Kind of Weekend

A Special Kind of Weekend

So it’s been a special weekend here – Meme had a birthday party! It is the first one she has properly had with school friends and she was so excited!

I booked a early slot at 10.30am on Saturday morning at a local adventure place called Brimstage Maze – if you are local to me (Merseyside) I would definitely recommend it. Whilst it has an indoor soft play the majority of the activities are outside including a maize maze, bouncing pillows, crazy golf, a zip wire and much more so I was desperate for the weather to stay dry for the kids to enjoy it!

I seriously had butterflies when I woke up yesterday morning ( it felt like my wedding day all over again), what if the weather was bad? what if nobody turned up? I had all crazy thoughts running through my head – I honestly never worried about a thing before I had children but now I feel like I am constantly worrying over the silliest things.Does anyone else feel like that?

However the day was a success. Everyone had a lovely time – most of all Meme. It was nice to see her playing with friends and it was lovely chatting to all my mum friends outside of the playground!

And so her first party all done and Harri is all excited for her birthday party – I am just so relieved her birthday is not until June!

  1. Oh Happy Birthday Meme! And yay for a wonderful party. My three have only ever had first birthday parties, with Kitty so close to the start of the school year, and not knowing her class two years running we haven’t dared yet but I can completely understand your nervousness about it and I’m so glad it was sunny. Somehow with sunshine and space to runaround you’re never going to fail!

    1. It looks like the girls had a wonderful day out, I’m sure you all had a great time together celebrating Meme’s birthday. There’s nothing better to bring a smile to a kids face than a great birthday party like this. I bet you were relieved when it was all over and it had been a massive success!

Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

  2. What a fantastic looking place for a party, no wonder you had an amazing time. We have O’s first school party in a couple of months and I am already starting to worry. It’s mostly been just our friends in the past! Wish us luck xxx

  3. What stunning photos lovely and such a fun place for a birthday party. I am so glad she had a nice day. We haven’t had a party for Mads since she was 3 and she will be 6 in December so I think we are definitely due another one with school friends this year. xx

  4. You sound like me – I used to panic so much about birthday parties, I’m a bit of a perfectionist and love everything to go to plan. I’ve not done one in a couple of years as I’ve managed to persuade them to go for a day out instead! Sounds like it all went really well, love the Maize Maze! Sarah #whatevertheweather

  5. Gorgeous capture! Happy birthday beautiful girl, Adam had his party last weekend too, they are stressful but such fun, it is wonderful to see them interacting with other children xx #pointshoot

  6. Looks like such a great place for a party. Glad I don’t have to think about parties for a while-just the idea stresses me out! Your photos are beautiful and looks like everyone had fun.

  7. Hi Natalie, I love both your photos. The corn makes the girls look even smaller than they probably are. I don’t think a parent alive ever stops worrying whether other children will turn up for a birthday party. It’s just the way we are.

  9. Lovely photos! We love maize mazes too, they are so much fun to get lost in! How lovely that Meme had such a great time with her friends at the birthday party and great you could get a chance to chat to friends yourself. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x
