Harri’s First Bike.

Harri’s First Bike.

The last couple of weekends have been really similar – staying local, visiting parks, going on bike rides, which have been just what we have needed. I have wrote about my girls and their bikes before – they are amazing and love going on them. Meme speeds around on her princess bike with Harri whizzing behind her on a balance bike. However I think it is time for Harri to get her first bike.

We thought we would give her a little trial on Meme’s bike. It sounds terrible but me and my husband weren’t really expecting much especially as it was her first go. Harri can also be quite stubborn so I wasn’t even sure if she would get on Meme’s bike but… she did it, she was amazing!

She kept her balance and worked the pedals and although she kept shouting ‘Daddy don’t let go’ she did it. I am so proud of her and a little surprised how easily she took to it. She obviously needs a lot more practice and we will have to tackle starting and stopping at some point but my girl is definitely ready for a big girl bike.

  1. awe look at her such a brave little girl! I so want Adam to ride, but he is not keen, love these pics! #pointshoot

  2. Well done Harri, such a brave girl for giving it ago. It takes a lot of patience from them (and us) to learn to ride a bike. I am sure once she has her own it won’t be long until they are whizzing along together. Gorgeous photos lovely xx

  3. Wow! well done… my little girl who is 3 have learned to ride a bike too. She used to have balance bike as well and the transition is so quick. Lovely photos!

  5. That’s amazing! You must be so made up for her, she looks so happy on there. I must admit we have been a little neglectful on the bike front – we’ve only just got Lucas a proper big one at 5 and we’d planned to give it a good go this summer and get the stabilisers off but it just hasn’t happened. He still loves it through, we just need to get him out more on it. xx

  6. Well done Harri she was definitely ready for the challenge. gorgeous photos that really take me back to hours of running behind bikes holding onto the saddle and letting go here at Coombe Mill. Such fun times and such a great way to enjoy the outdoors. You will be off on family cycling adventures now before you know it!

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

  7. OH yay! She will be whizzing about on a proper bike with her sister very soon, how great that she’s able to pedal a proper bike already! We need to get a bigger balance bike for A, he’s outgrown his 10 inch, but not big enough for the 14 inch bike we have yet. Cycling is great for all the adventures you can have. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

  8. Great pics! I can’t wait until Finn gets a bike, although I will have to up my game-not great on 2 wheels! Looks like Harri will be speeding around very soon, I’m sure both girls will have so much fun together. #whatevertheweather

  9. Well done Harri! I have heard so many great stories about kids taking to biking easily after having balance bikes. My son didn’t have one and really struggled at first so we are definitely going to get one for our daughter (may have to ask Santa!)
