Children’s Subscription Boxes – A Pocketful of Books

I have been sent the below products in exchange for a honest review.

There are so many amazing children’s subscription boxes available these days. Such a good idea and there is a subscription box out there for everything. I am such a book worm. All through my life I have loved to read. there is nothing quite like curling up on the couch and losing yourself in a good book. When I was younger this is how I spent the majority of my spare time. I always remember running to the school library each day to see if any new books had arrived. So it makes me so happy that my Children are also readers. Especially Meme who can finish a book in just a few days (again rather like me) and all of her pocket money she wants to spend in the book shop.

I openly encourage this as, for me, reading is one of best things for little imaginations. It opens a whole new world of adventures and possibilities. Books can build your confidence and teach you a good lesson about other people. It really is like a sneak peak into people’s life and a chance to experience different cultures and countries, all from the comfort of your own home.

Introducing A Pocketful of Books – the perfects gift for little readers.

So when I heard about ‘A Pocketful of Books’ I was really keen to get involved. I knew I would have loved this when I was younger. It really is the perfect gift for readers. A  subscription book club aimed for children aged between 5-12 that, each month, provides your child with a little package in the post (through the letter box) full of goodies. The box consists of a book, a book mark and some activities and crafts based around the book.

Firstly my girls were pretty excited just to receive some post of their own but real delight came when they opened the package to see a new book. Now we have received subscription boxes before, but this one seemed a little special, a little different. Each package is unique with slightly different activities based around the book that they had received.

Meme’s Subscription Box

Meme received ‘Knitbone Pepper Ghost Dog’ by Claire Barker which is perfect for her, admittedly I am not sure that it is a book that she necessarily picked up herself however I kind of think that is the beauty of it. You are sent a book that is a little different to what you would usually choose which then encourages you to try something a little different. She also received some fun facts and practical crafts, a recipe and some facts about the book and puzzles. I especially love the section where it asks your thoughts on the different characters in book, it gave her something to really think about.

Harri’s Subscription Box

Harri received ‘Toto The Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape’ by Dermot O’Leary. Similar to Meme she received lots of activities to complete and crafts including a cat mask to colour and wear (she absolutely loved this!). Harri is just about to turn six and isn’t a huge reader like Meme. The book looks great and lots of fun however I do think this is maybe a little too old for Harri, so we plan to read it together which definitely works better for her. That said this subscription box has encouraged her to read a little bit more which is so important.

I think the idea of a child book subscription is really good and a great way to get your child excited about reading and doing it a little bit more. As Dr Seuss said, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn the more places you’ll go’.

This is the perfect children’s subscription box for readers!
