Art and Crafts

We have plans to make some Easter crafts this year. We love art and crafts in our house, especially Harri who could spend all day drawing and painting, sticking and gluing. I try to encourage this kind of play as much as possible. Whilst it can be messy and can leave me with a lot of tiding up to do, I do believe that it’s a great way for your child to explore their creativity and build their confidence.

I think the only craft that I am not a huge fan of is painting, it gets everywhere! Obviously my girls (and Alf) love painting so when I heard about Little Brian Paint sticks they seemed like the perfect compromise.

Staying inline with the season we decided to decorate some eggs with the paint sticks. If you decide to try this at home please remember to boil the eggs! They come in every colour that you can think of including metallics and brights.

I am not sure what I was expecting. They come in a tube that twists up and down and they look a little like crayons. The girls got painting straight away and I was really impressed. They come out really easy, dried really fast (in less than 60 seconds) and glided nice and easy over the eggs we were decorating. There was no pouring out paints into trays, no mixing colours to find ones you like, no water accidents or spillages. It was just really easy and. as a Mum of three, perfect, even Alfie had a go.

We spent all morning decorating eggs and then painting some shells we had collected from the beach. I was astounded at how good they were and how much the girls enjoyed using them. When they had finished with them they went nice and easily back into their box. It is a fun, clean and convenient way to paint. I don’t think I will be reaching for a paint brush again any time soon!

  1. I used to love crafting like this when I was a kid! I don’t have children myself, but will share this post with a few of my friends who do. I am sure they’ll find it helpful! x
