Alfie at 14 months.

Alfie at 14 months.

Amidst the snow and blizzards my baby turned 14 months. How long do you continue to count their age in months? I think maybe until they hit 18 months?! Which isn’t that far away.

Alfie at 14 months is well, hard. I feel that each child has a period where they can be a little bit of a handful. Meme I found a bit difficult when she started school. With Harri we had the terrible twos. I am thinking maybe this may be our Alfie stage.

I am finding him hard to please, clingy, grumpy and well I feel like at a bit of a loss. We only have 2 days in the week together and I look forward to them but in reality when they arrive I am counting down the hours until bedtime.

I feel guilty for feeling like this sometimes – he is my baby and I love him so much. I want to cherish these baby months before they are completely over. I feel guilty that he gets so little time with me and once the girls are home from school the house gets so busy and I am pulled in three different directions.

I know the fact that he has had constant sickness and colds since starting nursery hasnt helped and I don’t blame him for being grumpy – its so frustrating.

However there are still lots and lots of good moments. He is saying a few words – bye being his favourite. He says row row from our endless hours of singing row the boat which he absolutely loves. He tries to shout ‘girls’ which sounds nothing like it but we understand. Is relationship with his sisters is just flourishing and it is lovely to watch, he literally jumps on them as soon as they get home from school. They all love each other so much.

So for now I guess I will continue to ride the storm, take each day as it comes. Battle between wishing the days away and clinging on to this precious time with my boy – and enoy those shining moments with smiles and snuggles and know that these tough times are just a phase.

That’s a lot how I have felt at times with Isabelle. She’s currently 10 months old and I know I really want her to be a little child. But at the same time, I have to enjoy who she is now and not look forward. Just embrace the moment and enjoy what’s going on now. Great post, and there’s nothing wrong with finding things hard at times, I know I do! #Sharingthebloglove

  2. Don’t beat yourself up too much lovely, kids and babies in particular are so demanding – it can really get to you! It’s a tricky stage and once he’s on his feet running around everyhwhere in the sunshine, things will seem a lot easier. Winter isn’t much fun for tots!

  3. It is just a phase and I hope you get through it soon! I love that he jumps all over his sisters when they come home, my brother did that to me and I loved it. #DreamTeam

  4. As a parent I have started to realise that for all the time you spend feeling frustrated with your child, there will be so much more time looking back at those times fondly. Cling on to the clinginess before he starts running off on his own! My little one is so independent now, sometimes it is me who drags out bedtime because that is our quiet time together. #bigpinklink

  5. I can’t believe he is 14 months already, that has flown by. It’s hard when they are grumpy, I used to have to get out the house on days like that with my girls. It’s the only thing I found helped me and them! Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  6. I have two friends and funnily enough they went through the exact same thing with their thirds at around the same age too, I wonder if the thirds feel they need to make their presence more known? You’ll be pleased to know that they are a little older now and life is much easier. 🙂 Thanks for linking up to the #bigpinklink this week.
