Bodelwyddan Castle is one of our top places to visit. Our girls absolutely love it! So when we asked them what would they like to do on bank holiday Friday – they both shouted ‘the castle!’. Bodelwyddan Castle is situated in North Wales not far from Rhyl which is about a 40 minute drive from us.
So off we went….on arrival we discovered that they had an Easter treasure hunt on. Now we love a good treasure hunt in our house so naturally we signed up straight away!
We had to follow clues around the castle grounds where we would find 11 wooden bunny signs each with a letter on it. Once we had found all of the letters we would be able to figure out what the word was and the girls would receive a prize!
We set off in search of the letters, it was a really good treasure hunt which allowed us to have a good wander around. Meme was in charge of reading out the clues whilst we encouraged Harri to practice writing the letters that we found. It was quite a long hunt but it definitely kept my girls interested, especially with the promise of a treat at the end!
We couldn’t go to Bodelwyddan Castle without a visit to it’s park. The park is pretty amazing – my girls love it. Slides, swings, balancing beams, sandpit – the list goes on. Even though it started raining we had fun having a play. We even got the opportunity to make a bird feeder for our garden.
It was a really good day and there was still so much we didn’t get a chance to do like play with the big garden games or explore the victorian games room in the castle – I’m pretty we will be returning to the castle again soon.
I can see why your girls love “the castle” so much! It looks like a fantastic day out.

The castle looks like a beautiful place to spend the day, I can see why it’s on your list of top places to visit! That treasure hunt looks like a great activity and a perfect learning opportunity for spelling and reading. That play park looks like the perfect way to finish off the day before heading home.
Thanks for sharing with me on #CountryKids.

This sounds so lovely – my daughter is a big fan of castles too, and I have very fond memories of visiting a lot of them on the north Wales coast when I was little. #familytraveltips
