Halfway through….

Halfway through….

Can you believe that we are over halfway through the holidays? There are only two weeks left. I remember when I was younger, the 6 week summer holidays felt like a life time but I can honestly say that these have flown by, I don’t think that I’m ready for a new school year to start. Not just because of the school run, or the fact that my baby starts preschool but I’m dreading everything that a new term brings – swimming lessons, dance class, rainbows, homework. I feel exhausted just writing it down.

Our week of adventures continued last week with a break in Yorkshire. We booked a cottage for a week which was lovely. It was another week of exploring but luckily we had the sunshine with us which makes such a difference. It was the first time we have stayed in this area and I did feel a little worried when we first arrived to find the cottage pretty much in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by fields. We had almost no Internet, no phone signal and a tiny TV with just a handful of channels – what on earth were we going to do? How funny that me and my hubbie are kids from the 80s, when there was no such thing as mobile phones, hundreds of TV channels or Internet (sometimes I think life must have been so much simpler).

We were fine, of course we were. We spent most of the day pottering around the local area, it was so nice to have a change of scenery and it was also nice to have nothing to do in the evenings. My mind did drift back to my messy house and piles of washing but there was nothing I could do about it so I simply relaxed, something me and my husband don’t do enough of.

So we are back to normal now and, as much as we enjoyed our little break, it’s always nice to return home after some time away to enjoy your little home comforts. Hubbie is back to work tomorrow so it’s just me and my girls left to enjoy the remainder of our summer before it’s back to the chaos of school life.

Below are some of our favourite holiday pics…

We found a lot of mud kitchens much to my girls delight!
