My Tiny Dancer

My Meme has been dancing since she learnt to walk, she loves it, and whilst she loves having a good boogie at a party, it’s really all about ballet. She is a typical girly girl, all pinks and tutus and I often find her spinning and floating around the house.

She started a pre school ballet class on a Saturday morning which she really enjoyed (me not so much – it started at 9am). I actually remember the first time she went, she was only 3 and parents weren’t allowed in the room to watch so she had to go in alone. There were lots of other girls starting who were crying and clinging to their Mums but not my girl, she walked in without a backwards glance – I was so proud of her. It was a natural progression when she moved into primary school that she moved to a bigger class. This transition didn’t go quite as smoothly as I thought it would. The new class was full  of her new school friends and I thought she would love it. She didn’t – the uniform she had to wear was black and she just didn’t like it so we had to find her a new class (seriously that girl knows her own mind!).

We found a new local class (where she can wear her pink leotard) and she hasn’t looked back – she would go every day if she could. She was in a dance show at the weekend which she loved and I felt so proud of her, watching her do what she feels passionate about – I don’t have many picture of her in her ballet uniform which is something I need to change as I want to remember every single moment of my girls first love.

The picture below was taken at her last day of pre school almost a year ago and, whilst its not the best quality, I love it. I am going to ask her the very same question at the end of her first year in school and I’m pretty sure it will be the same answer…

My tiny dancer.

  1. Such a sweet post, I love how you had to find her a different class so she could wear her pink leotard, kids have such strong opinions sometimes don’t they! x

  2. That is lovely, so pleased you found her a new class she loves. My eldest has been doing ballet since she was 2, we started in the class with grown ups and I loved us doing it together. I found it hard when she moved up to the class without me, but she loved it. I get to do it all again in September with my youngest and I can’t wait X

  3. Aww Meme so lovely. Its great she is so adamant about what she wants to be and where her passion is at this young age. Well done on the show 🙂
This reminded me a bit of Megs too, she desperately wanted to be a ballerina and loves to wear her outfit to dance (9am on a Saturday too – shheeesshh), but refuses to do the shows, no interest in showing anyone what she is learning.. strange but she loves to go still?!
I hope Meme keeps it up, especially now she has found a class that fits better! x

  4. Aw this is lovely! It made me smile that she went in search of a class with a pink ballet oufit. Do they not know that ALL little girls want to wear pink?! Bless her. No wonder you were proud. If you fancy it, please do link this up to #loudnproud on Thursday – it’s with Mum of Three World this week 🙂

  5. This is such a cute post and what a determined little girl. I also think it’s testament to you that you found her a ballet school where she can wear her pink outfit – way to go, mama!
She clearly knows what she wants and I hope she can/does continue her dancing!

  6. I love this and as the mother of a little ballet dancer, I can totally relate! It’s lovely when there so passionate about dancing, although I had to laugh at the black leotard. Seriously, who puts tiny kids in a black leotard?
Thanks very much for linking to Loud ‘n’ Proud.

  7. Aww this is so lovely! My 6 years old is exactly the same. She just won’t stop dancing and singing all day long! She goes to dance after club at her school and she just loves it. Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday, 🙂 x

  8. I also have a tiny dancer! I always say she was dancing as soon as she could move, so she has a lot in common with your daughter 🙂 She is only just 2 at the moment, but I’m sure she will love to start a dance class when she is a bit older.

  9. So sweet! I know my daughters grandparents would love it if she did ballet! She loves dancing but she’s definitely got a stompy style! I might get her in a class when she’s a bit older. #kcacols
